Faith vs Wisdom

By Jimbob McFadden at 04/18/07 15:23

There may be some confusion here has we learned below that "wisdom is the ability, developed through experience, insight and reflection". This of course means that wisdom is developed by man by what he does and what he thinks. Wisdom cannot be acquired by gift, only through experience.

Some define wisdom to be conceptualized as an especially well developed form of common sense. Again widsom would be learned from your actions and the results there from. Regardless of how you wish to define wisdom, it comes directly from learning from your actions.

Now some would like to bring faith into the picture. Although you may use faith and/or wisdom to guide you in your decision making, they are completely separate and cannot be combined. Wisdom is solely from within you. Faith is sole relying upon something outside.

What is a Christian's purpose?

By Curt DeSchambeau at 04/18/07 15:11
How about we start with...

  • Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God
  • It is written again, thou shall not tempt the Lord Thy God
  • Thou shalt worship the Lord Thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve (Matt 4)

If we do this, we will be safe from the temptation that will come upon the whole world.

(And the beast deceives them that dwell on the earth, and causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their forehead: and that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.) And this shall happen to all whose names are not written in the Lamb's Book of Life. (Rev 13)

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: fear God and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

For God shall bring every work into judgement with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. (Ecc 12:13-14)

When do We Get Wiser?

By Lizzie Botticelli at 04/12/07 14:35
Do we learn after every mistake? Why then, do we repeat the same mistakes over and over again.

I am wondering, why do people not fear God any more? We go about our lives interpreting the way we believe we should be living. What is acceptable, what is not acceptable. It is very clear in the Bible what God expects from us. It is clear what God can do (which is everything). There is nothing impossible with God.

Why do we go to doctors, when it is clear that with your belief that Jesus died for our sins and armed with the wisdom that it is God's will to heal?

The "world" tells us to behave like everyone else and of course you have to go to the doctor. When will we ever learn?

What is wisdom?

By Wilbur Corncob at 04/06/07 13:03
According to Wikipedia:

Wisdom is the ability, developed through experience, insight and reflection, to discern truth and exercise good judgment. Wisdom is sometimes conceptualized as an especially well developed form of common sense. According to the renowned Neuropsychologist and Neurobiologist Roger Wolcott Sperry though, Wisdom/Intuition is a right-brain activity while Factual and Mathematical analysis is a left-brain activity

In a world that seems to lack so much common sense, where should we find wisdom?

The media is full of so much stuff that lacks wisdom.... just pick up your daily newspaper. Do you have some tidbits of wisdom to share?
